Academic or association leader workshop

Are you an academic or association leader? If so, we have Practice-based Evidence in Nutrition sorted for you.

We appreciate that finding, appraising and applying the evidence to share with your students/members could be a more than full-time occupation. Practice based Evidence in Nutrition (PEN) finds, reviews and makes recommendations on the research for you – collating this all in one online database making it easy for you, and your students/members to access.

Attend our FREE workshop to learn how you and your students/members can benefits from the PEN system by:

  • Providing a live demonstration of the PEN database which will enable you to see the many resources we have to support teaching and practice. These include topics on: research methods; outcomes; media skills; counselling strategies and many more. These resources can be used to help facilitate session you already provide. See our Professional Practice section of the PEN database to review the topics we will cover
  • Learning how PEN can help develop your members/students’ evidence-based practice skills by explaining PEN robust evidenced-base – how evidence is appraised and summarised including the GRADE approach
  • Discussing the opportunities available to contribute to the PEN evidence-base. We have many training materials to support with this such as a ‘guide to being a PEN reviewer
  • Providing you with the knowledge needed to showcase to your students/members the vast knowledge pathways on PEN

Getting involved with PEN will show your students/members your commitment to evidence-based practice and their professional development.

A student member of the BDA described PEN as ‘one of the most helpful and valuable tools during my studies so far’ – empowering the student with the knowledge of messages members of the public are reading by keeping up-to-date with trending topic.
